WHO WE ARE
Filipino Australian Sports Association Incorporated is a non-profit community organisation formed by a group of Filipinos and Australians who committed to model a community sports to benefit local Filipino and Australian communities in Western Australia.
This group of independent individuals first came together in 1992 to discuss ways of enhancing the sportsmanship and discipline and ways of meet and greet through friendly basketball competition. It soon became apparent that the population of Filipino Australian Sports Association (FASA) communities had grown significantly with the sudden influx of migrants due to skills shortage, relatives and cross marriages sponsorships.
The family comes from variety of technical expertise and cultural background including nurses, technicians, welders, engineers, IT professionals and various skilled workers.
To keep this community alive, FASA currently investigate the possible sources of funding in the hope of keeping the program going. FASA plays a significant role to Filipino and other overseas migrants who have settle in the heart of Western Australia by designing a program tailor made for individual requirements.
We understand that newly migrants are often very socially isolated as a consequence of their migrating experience or cultural background. We believe that through sports these adults and children will eventually reduce the isolation. This will help them increase community participation and to socialize and embrace the culture of Australia.
